Games of Sept. 16-17, 2016

Offense

 QB Josh Evans, So., La Verne

Evans had a coming-out party in a 48-42 loss to Whitworth, accounting for 385 total yards and five touchdowns. He ran for 229 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries, seven of which went for 10 or more yards. He was 14-of-26 passing and threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns.

OL Matt Reitsma, Justin Fairfield, Michael Stephan, Jake VanderVeen, Tyler Kirchoff, Hope

The Flying Dutchmen had three ballcarriers go over 150 yards in a win vs. Concordia-Chicago, rushing for 518 yards after Hope had rushed for 162 yards in previous two games combined over an 0-2 start.

RB Darrell West
Jr., Morrisville State

West rushed for a career-high 256 yards on 28 attempts vs. Utica. He also ran  West also posted all three Mustang TDs on the night, from 3, 26 and 89 yards out.

WR Shedrick Davis
Jr., Lousiana College

Davis made eight catches for 170 yards and two touchdowns in a 58-28 win vs. Texas Lutheran. The touchdowns came on passes of 60 yards and 42 yards respectively.

WR Brendan Lynch
Sr., Case

Lynch caught nine passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns to pace the Spartans' offense in a 55-0 win vs. Grove City. 

WR Jake Smith
Jr., Cortland

Smith caught 11 passes for 167 yards, both career highs, with one touchdown in Cortland's 31-24 loss to St. John Fisher. His 77-yard TD reception in the third quarter drew the Red Dragons within 24-17.

TE Dylan Schultz
Jr., Dubuque

Schultz was a backup wideout filling in for an injured tight end and had 10 catches for 141 yards and a TD in a 41-20 win vs. Simpson.

Defense

DE Edwin Etienne
Sr., Central

Etienne set career-highs with tackles (two solo), two and a half tackles for loss, and two and a half sacks in a 33-0 win vs. Buena Vista. Etienne blocked a field goal at the end of the first half to help preserve the shutout and recovered a fumble that turned into seven points for the Dutch.

DT Montel Lee
Jr., Ferrum

Lee had seven tackles, six of them solo and an incredible five and a half of them behind the line of scrimmage in Ferrum's win vs. Hampden-Sydney. He had four sacks, broke up a pass and forced a fumble.

DT Christopher Ford
Sr., Maine Maritime

Ford had 10 tackles, six solo, four tackles for a loss and one sack in the Mariners' 42-35 win vs. Massachusetts Maritime.

DE Brian Khoury
Sr., Carnegie Mellon

Khoury recorded two and a half sacks while registering seven tackles, three for a loss in a 35-23 win vs. Waynesburg. The defense held the Yellow Jackets to 35 rushing yards.

 

LB Eric Stevenson
So., Wheaton

Stevenson recorded a career-high 15 tackles (13 solo) in a win at Carthage, including two tackles inside the Wheaton 2   as part of a goal-line stand for the Thunder that saw Wheaton stop Carthage from scoring on first-and-goal at the 6.

LB Terrance Crowe
Sr., Wittenberg

Crowe had 20 tackles, 15 of them solo, including a tackle for loss in the Tigers' 33-7 win vs. Ohio Wesleyan.

LB Jack Perez
Sr., Pacific

Perez led the Boxers with 11 tackles in a 45-22 victory vs. Occidental in Honolulu. Perez notched seven solo tackles, while also recording three tackles for loss and one sack. He also broke up three passes.

LB Acquarey Eddington
Jr., Cal Lutheran

Eddington recorded 12 total tackles, eight of them solo, and had a sack for a loss of 11 yards in Cal Lutheran's 28-24 loss to Willamette. 

 

CB Dylan Stepleton
Sr., Coe

Stepleton tied a school record with three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown in a 45-10 win vs. Loras. He posted eight tackles, seven of them solo.

S Joel Reighard
So., Juniata

Reighard recorded 10 tackles, seven solo, and picked off a pass in Juniata's 41-35 win vs. Gettysburg. He returned the pick 32 yards, setting up a field goal.

CB Pierre Chadwick
So., Maryville

Chadwick recorded 11 tackles, 10 of them solo, and forced and returned a fumble 48 yards for a touchdown in a 43-36 win vs. Emory & Henry. He also broke up two passes.

Special teams

K Drew Pearson
So., UW-Stout

Pearson was successful on field goals of 44, 52 and 44 yards and also converted both extra-point attempts, scoring 11 points in Stout's 23-13 win vs. Mayville State.

P Will Gingery
Sr., Wittenberg

Gingery was booming on Saturday, averaging 48.8 yards on his five punts in the Tigers' 33-7 win vs. Ohio Wesleyan. One of the punts was fumbled, setting up a Wittenberg field goal.

RET Phillip Nichols
Fr., Wheaton (Ill.)

Nichols returned a punt 70 yards for a third-quarter TD to give Wheaton a 19-7 lead at Carthage. His 26-yard punt return in the first quarter put the Thunder in Carthage territory and helped set up Wheaton's first TD. Nichols averaged 24.0 yards on six punt returns.

ST Alex Pasiewicz
Sr., Lake Forest

Pasiewicz returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and later ran 27 yards for a first down on a fake punt as part of Lake Forest's 55-13 win vs. Cornell.
