Hobart College Head Football Coach Mike Cragg recently announced that offensive assistant coachMichael Green '14 will be promoted to offensive line coach. Green takes over responsibility for the offensive line from Kevin DeWall '00, who was named head coach at Endicott College in February. 
 
"We are absolutely thrilled to have a Hobart grad like Michael, who was a straight A student, and an athletic and academic All-American, taking over the offensive line," Cragg said. "He knows our system really well, is extremely bright and loves Hobart College. I am thrilled to have someone of his caliber joining our staff as a full-time offensive line coach."
 
Green joined Hobart's staff in 2014 prior to the start of fall practices. This season, he helped coach two All-Americans on the offensive line, senior offensive tackle Ali Marpet and senior offensive guard DeAndré Smith. Marpet was named to the AFCA and D3football.com All-America first teams and earned a spot on the AP Little All-America second team. He was a three time All-Liberty League selection and the first offensive lineman to be named the Liberty League Player of the Year. Smith earned a spot on the D3football.com All-America third team.
 
Green inherits a line that returns three starters from a year ago. Last season it ranked sixth in the nation in fewest sacks allowed (0.69/g) and fewest tackles for loss allowed (3.54/g). They helped Hobart rush for 200 yards or more six times, including a season-high 404 yards and six touchdowns against Merchant Marine. The Statesmen did not allow any sacks in seven games this year and allowed no more than two sacks in the other six contests.
 
A native of Belleair Beach, Florida, Green was a two-year starter at center for the Statesmen. He earned high marks on the field and in the classroom. He helped the 2013 Statesmen rank first in the Liberty League in scoring offense (33.9 ppg) and second in total offense (378.5 yds/g) on his way to third team All-America honors from D3football.com. The two-time Capital One Academic All-American earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics.
 
Green and his classmates led Hobart to a 34-8 overall record. He was a member of three Liberty League Championship winning teams and made three straight NCAA playoff appearances, advancing to the national quarterfinals in 2012.
