Heidelberg clinched a spot in the OAC title game, while Hanover was not giving back the Victory Bell and A.J. Jackson's return was a memorable one in Division III football action in Spring Week 10, April 9-10.

With the melted candle wax from his candlelight vigil still visible on the plaza outside of Hoernemann Stadium, the Heidelberg University football team did their fallen teammate, Curtis Helman, proud on Friday -- their first home game since his passing. The Student Princes won a hard-fought, hard-hitting game against rival Ohio Northern, 42-35, to advance to the OAC title game against Mount Union.

Sophomore tailback Montavious Yearby shouldered the load for the Student Princes. Yearby carried the ball 27 times for 194 yards and a touchdown. On HU's game-winning drive alone, he carried the ball eight times for 60 yards.

Heidelberg will play at Mount Union on Friday, April 16. The Purple Raiders were off this week after their divisional game against Baldwin Wallace was canceled because of COVID protocols. BW will not play a divisional crossover game to end the season, either.

The 90th Victory Bell game was much like the 89th and the 88th as Hanover extended its streak in the series to three games, defeating Franklin 56-21. The Panther defense set the tone early as part of the Victory Bell Game as they forced an opening drive turnover on the 1-yard line. Franklin rallied to tie the game at 14-14 before Shawn Coane capped off a 75-yard drive with his fifth touchdown run of the season, giving the Panthers a 21-14 lead going into the locker room. Hanover scored the next three TDs to put the game away. With the three consecutive victories, Hanover now leads the series 45-42-3.

Greenville got on the board first against Lake Forest, as the Panthers recorded a safety and broke a scoreless tie with three seconds remaining in the opening period. The lead was short-lived, however, as the visitors' next possession lasted just three plays and the punt was returned 81 yards for a touchdown by Lake Forest sophomore A.J. Jackson. It was the fifth time Jackson has scored on a punt or kickoff return in 11 career games. The Foresters then reached the end zone on three of the team's next five possessions and went on to win 27-2. It was Lake Forest's first game of the season, while Greenville dropped to 1-3.

Martin Luther had four running backs rack up a total of 491 yards on the ground as the Knights ran away with a 44-14 win at Minnesota-Morris. Austin DeNoyer had 218 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries, while quarterback Max Nordlie added 16 carries for 128, Elliott Butler had 13 carries for 82 yards and a score and Carson Oestreich went for 63 yards and a score on 17 carries. .

Justin Heacock passed for 275 yards and three touchdowns as Washington & Jefferson defeated St. Vincent by a 42-14 score. The Presidents finished with 538 total yards, 314 of which were through the air and another 224 yards came on the ground, while Heacock completed 25 of his 30 pass attempts. Joey Koroly surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark for a second straight week, as he rushed 22 times for 127 yards to help W&J improve to 3-0.

Marietta scored on offense, defense and special teams as the Pioneers defeated Muskingum 29-7. With the victory, Marietta retains possession of the Shrine Trophy and improves to 2-2. Marietta finishes third in the East Division of the OAC standings and will host Wilmington in the season-ending crossover game. In addition, Ohio Northern hosts John Carroll and Muskingum travels to Otterbein. Capital will not be participating.
